I'm going to attempt to Wednesday Wonder now. Don't laugh because I can't write very well. Oh, the theme this week is "Summertime Memories."

I have several very good summertime memories. As far as I can remember, our family would take a vacation every summer. Yes, my parents would pack the six of us, along with our precious 'necessities' and haul off for somewhere in the north (usually.) For the first years of my life, I remember our family taking camping trips. We (well, some of us) would pitch a tent and settle in for the week. My parents would always choose a place that had water nearby. I think we kids spent most of the day in the water; but we would also take hikes in the woods. I remember my Dad used to pack candy in baggies and tell us that was our 'survival kit' (or part of it anyway.) I don't recall ever getting lost in the woods; maybe they weren't as big as they seemed, or I'm sure we wouldn't have been allowed to hike in them. When we got a bit older, my parents bought a houseboat. Oh what wonderful memories that brings.........one of the things that stand out is at night, when it was too dark to go swimming, or too rainy to go outside, we used to play a game called spoons. What fun! I also remember once when we were docked in Charlevoix (sp?), the winds were so strong that our boat would not stop rocking! It kept some of us up most of the night; I also remember taking our boat from the river to the bay and when the water was high, my Dad would try to gauge the clearance for us to go under the bridges; you know, the ones that didn't open for boats. Once, I can recall all 7 of us (my Mom too) piling toward the bow and sitting there, hoping our weight would bring the boat down enough to clear the bridge, and I think we made it! As we got older yet, my parents sold the houseboat and bought a sailboat; a 37-footer. Oh yeah; those were the days. You can NOT tip over in a sailboat that size, but you can get seasick! My parents sailed that boat almost all the way around Michigan! By then, some of us were off to college, and the ones that were still living at home were too old to be interested in all that 'excitement.' Good memories; good 'ol days!

Hope I didn't bore you to death with my memories...............thanks for the theme. I needed a reason to smile!

I'm doin' the Monday Madness!!
1. What one thing do you wish would never have been invented? Why?
Whatever it is that they used to figure out how to clone living things. I think that's just wrong! I don't believe that we humans were put here to mess with nature; and especially HUMAN nature!
2. If you could change the speed limit on the highways, what would you change it to?
I guess I would put it back to 60 because then everyone would go 70 or 75. Now because it IS 70, people go 80 or 85. That's just CRAZY!!
3. What word or words do you misspell consistently?
I used to spell acknowledge incorrectly all the time.........did I spell it right? OH, I know! I always spell hors 'deuvres wrong!!! See? I spelled it wrong, didn't I?
Let's throw in one more again this week................
4. What wealthy person is the least deserving of their fortune? Why?
I can't name any ONE specific person but I think ALL the athletes are HIGHLY overpaid!! WHY? Because we have starving people out here!!! And they're making millions to play games!!!

Great questions, eh? Got MY blood boiling................

You probably are aware that the Blogathon 2003 is going on now. Are you participating in any way? Would you consider participating next year?
Oh yes, I do know about the Blogathon. I did not participate in any way but yeah, I think I would consider it next year! Sounds like a lot of fun, and for a good cause!
